Training on Reflective Teaching with Information Communication Technology (RTICT)<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of the Connected Learning For Teacher Capacity Building in STEM (CL4STEM) Project, eighteen STEM faculty members from Samtse College of Education completed training on Reflective Teaching with Information Communication Technology (RTICT) from June 3 to 29, 2021, provided by the School of Education at Tata Institute of Education (TISS) in Mumbai, India. Along with the Bhutanese teacher educators, there were participants from Centre for Applied Sciences and Technology Research (CASTER), Ibrahim Badamsi Babangida University (IBBU), Nigeria; and Open University, Tanzania (OUT). RTICT courses are designed to strengthen teacher practice by providing opportunities to use pedagogies that incorporate contextual and authentic technology use.<\/p>\n

The primary goal of this RTICT training was to educate teacher educators on how to develop school teachers’ Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) through the use of Open Educational Resources (OERs) and blended learning. Following this training, teacher educators from all partner institutions are expected to curate\/create OERs for science and mathematics teaching that are specific to their country context.<\/p>\n

Science faculty members studied the modules listed below and completed the associated assignments. All of the faculty members successfully completed the course and will soon be awarded certificates.<\/p>\n

  3. Unit 1: Nature of Science<\/li>\n
  4. Unit 2: Role of Experimentation and Argumentation<\/li>\n
  5. Unit 3: Material for Teachers (Ecosystem Module)<\/li>\n
  6. Unit 4: Material for Teachers (Health and Disease Module)<\/li>\n
  7. Unit 5: Material for Teachers (Sound Module)<\/li>\n
  8. Assessment (Implementation) and Post-Test and Post-Course Survey<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Similarly, math faculty members studied S-02a: Reflecting Mathematics Teaching (Geometric Reasoning) and completed the associated assignments.<\/p>\n
